McCabe World Travel Celebrates 30 Years!

The crisp Spring air, Cherry Blossoms in bloom and a luxury yacht charter touring the Potomac River was a blissful way to celebrate a night of partnership and 30 years strong in the luxury travel industry! We decided to celebrate our 30th Anniversary by inviting our valued Virtuoso partners and our team together for a weekend of “momentum” with celebrations, 1:1 conversation and training. Our incredible Virtuoso partners, colleagues and special guests all gathered to help make this a memorable event.

We at McCabe World Travel pride ourselves in partnerships that we have built throughout our 30 years in business. Having the ability gather all of these special people into one room for a 2-day celebration was truly a treat and a humbling experience. Before the evening began, we welcomed our out of town guests and partners for a short bus ride to our destination for the evening. Laughter filled the air as stories were told and hugs were happily exchanged between colleagues and partners. We hopped on board the Capital Elite Yacht and off we went! Cocktails were poured and hors d’oeuvres were served as we cruised the Potomac River. As the sun set, we were able to see the Washington Monument, United States Capitol building and how could we forget the beautiful Cherry Blossoms still in bloom!

As the evening progressed, dear friends and colleagues shared kind words about CEO Damian McCabe,  President Anne Scully and our agency as a whole. It was truly special to have our partners share their gratitude and to also congratulate our fearless leaders for so many successful years. We were delighted to have Joelle Goldman; Director of Global Member Partnerships in the USA & Canada join us for the evening where she presented Damian with an award congratulating McCabe World Travel for being named a Virtuoso National Account! National Account status with Virtuoso allows for incredible benefits to our clients, Advisors and our agency. Not to mention there are only a handful of Virtuoso National Accounts! It was an exciting and humbling moment for Damian and McCabe World Travel.

Friday, we welcomed our partners again for an exclusive training with our team. Our Advisors benefit tremendously from these tailored 1:1 sessions with our partners, each geared to what more we can offer our valued clients. Fueled by caffeine and breakfast sandwiches we began our day full of training, networking and business development. Short, yet educational sessions allowed our Advisors to not only get the “inside scoop” but also allowed for detailed questions about our development as an agency, specific questions about Virtuoso partner products and share valued feedback received from clients. After our networking lunch, our afternoon was busy with an informative training about Marketing, a guest Keynote speaker, and a wise word from our very own Wayne Muhlstein! We concluded our celebration and training with freshly made margaritas, guacamole and chips (because who doesn’t love those?) and buzzing conversation among our team celebrating a great event!

We rounded out our weekend with a philanthropy event at the office on Saturday morning. A delicious omelet station with private chef and freshly brewed coffee were served as we introduced the Community Crane Project. Our goal was to make as many origami cranes in honor of the 150,000 men and women in the United States living with stage IV Breast Cancer. This project was meant to bring awareness to the Breast Cancer community and the lack of research funding for stage IV Breast Cancer specifically. With a lot of assistance from how-to videos, patience and laughter, we successfully folded over 150 cranes!

Overall, our very first “Momentum with McCabe World Travel” was a clear success! This event would not have been possible without the support of our partners, colleagues and team. Being able to share our success as an agency with our Advisors & Virtuoso partners is extremely important and the information retained from our training will be a valuable resource for the year to come.

Mexico Luxury!

Ashley takes us through her luxury stay at the Viceroy Riviera Maya!

I have been DYING to share my experience at the Viceroy Riviera Maya and 65 Villa only resort. At our McCabe World Travel office retreat, I was able to spend 5 days at this beautiful resort. This was my first trip EVER to Mexico experiencing luxury travel as a guest vs. a travel advisor.

Mexico is always a quick and fairly easy trip to make! A quick flight and a 45 min private transfer. The Cancun airport can be a bit overwhelming with the amount of taxis and transportation options, so I would highly suggest making transportation arrangements before you arrive at the airport. If you choose to shuttle, the cost is less but adds an extremely large amount of time to arrive at your destination.

As you enter the Viceroy, you are greeted with a cold scented towel and specialty welcome drink in a handcrafted glass. Once check-in is complete, you are taken on a quick tour of the resort, including a welcoming ceremony at the Spa. I will never forget walking along the path full of foliage to my private villa. Also, having my luggage delivered was a new experience too! The Viceroy is a 65 villa resort, with privacy as a main focus for guests. The further away you are from the beach, the more private your Villa will be! Austin and I were in a Royal Villa for the duration of our trip. Yes, this is a secluded resort, but I wouldn’t have wanted any other way to unwind and relax.

Our first day upon arrival, my colleagues Megan, Frances and I arrived and immediately joined a Guacamole & Margarita class. See me shake it up on McCabe World Travels’ Instagram!

Before dinner, I wanted to take a dip in my Plunge Pool but it was a bit too chilly. One quick call to the front desk I had someone there within 5 minutes to adjust the temperature of my plunge pool. Okay…what? Dinner at La Marea was anything short of amazing. Being greeted by the chef at each meal truly allowed you to feel the special touch that this resort offers. If you have dietary needs, no problem! This resort was aware of my husbands Lactose Intolerance and made any adjustments necessary to make our dining experiences memorable.

My second day, I had the most memorable massage EVER. The spa was truly incredible (see pictures not their website to truly appreciate). Austin and I were able to experience a beautiful outdoor massage. The Caribbean breeze blowing with the sound of the monkeys and birds in the background was incredible.

Although there were only two restaurant options,  I never had the same meal twice. I loved having the option of room service or dining at the restaurants. We were lucky enough to have dinner on a Tuesday, where all tables are decorated with hand woven table cloths and perfectly shaken margaritas. The staffs attention to detail was a luxury not to be forgotten. For example, my stomach was not right a few mornings and they IMMEDIATELY dropped Ginger Tea off at the table beside my plunge pool. Talk about service!

The cabanas are first come first serve and fully serviced all day! During our lunch hour on the beach, Austin and I were greeted by one of the amazing resort staff to set up our departure transfer for the following day. The beautiful part of this resort is that you are known when you are there.

Although I was sad to leave, I know that I will be back one day to thoroughly enjoy all the the Viceroy has to offer!

See you soon, Mexico!

Magical Munich

Jessica Griscavage treated her family to Munich for the holidays! Read more below to hear about their adventures and the Christmas markets!

The Christmas tree is down and we are officially in the middle of winter. Instead of the winter blues, I wanted to take a moment to reflect back on my favorite 2018 holiday memory…the German Christmas Markets.  I took my family to Munich for three perfect nights to get us in the holiday spirit. I admit, a bit extreme for holiday shopping, but worth the flight and every moment.

Three perfect days in Munich:

Day 1 – After a direct flight we transferred to the hotel. We spent the night wandering the beautiful streets of Munich and had a great meal at Spatenhaus an der Oper for some local favorites. I highly recommend the potato soup.

Day 2 – I enlisted the services of my favorite German supplier to provide us with a full day tour to Bavaria. Our guide met us in the lobby of our hotel and then we drove the scenic drive on the famous “Romantic Road” to visit the fairy take castle of Neuschwanstein. Fun fact: This castle was the inspiration for the castle at Disneyland.  How do you get to the castle? You take a horse and carriage, of course! After we toured this ornate castle, we visited the adorable of Oberammergau, home of the “Passion Play.” This charming village with many woodcarver stores is brilliant during the Christmas Season. Our last stop was to Steingaden to see the Wieskirche (Pilgrimage Church of Wies), which became UNESCO Heritage site in 1983.

Day 3 –  We took the train to Salzburg, Austria, for another perspective of the Christmas Markets. This was a truly magical day to include a horse and carriage ride, ice skating, more Gluhwein and  shopping for treasures.

Day 4 – We spent our last morning back at the Munich markets taking in as much Gluhwein and last minute shopping as possible before we head to the airport.

It truly was a magical getaway for my family.  Yes it is a long way to go for three nights, but I would encourage everybody to take advantage of long weekend getaways. Three nights is a perfect amount of time to really explore a new city.

If you have a few days to spend in December there is no better way to get in the holiday spirit. Contact me at for more details and ideas.
